Summer Festivals

As Toronto’s most loved percussion posse,  SAMBA SQUAD returned to the Beaches International Jazz Festival  last summer, both at the Bands on the Street from July 26-28 at Woodbine and Queen and then at the brand new venue Beaches Jazz Festival World Stage  at Woodbine Park on Sunday, July 29. SAMBA SQUAD will play the Summer 2013 Beaches Jazz Festival, as well as London Sun Fest.

Samba Squad also returned to the TD Toronto Jazz Festival in 2012 and played at the Distillery on Saturday June 23.

Other festivals on our summer schedule included AFRO FEST, SALSA ON ST. CLAIR, Muhtadi International Drum Festival, and TAOIST TAI CHI PARADE.

Neruda’s Show the World festival will warm the cockles of your heart before the deep freeze really sets in!

Samba Squad: Feel the Power!

Fresh from their appearance with the over 300 performers in Jade’s Hip Hop Academy at the Air Canada Centre this summer, Toronto’s Samba Squad energized the opening night of Neruda’s Show the World festival.

Before Samba Squad took to the stage, local African drummer, drum maker and drum instructor, Nii Addico warmed up the crowd with some of his favorite Ghanaian rhythms.

Both nights doors open at 7pm and show begins at 8pm.

Lula Lounge

On Friday, October 14, 2011, SAMBA SQUAD played at Lula Lounge. a Big Show and Dance Party with some new original songs, under the Artistic Direction of Rick Shadrach Lazar.

Special guest vocalists Luanda Jones, Laura Mae Lindo, Andrea Dibartolomeo and Lester McLean were featured.

On bass: Collin Barrett, keys: Jordan Armstrong, guitar: Dimitrios Petsalakis, and cavaquinho: Curtis Lambert.
