SAMBA SQUAD announced its busy Summer 2015 season with exciting new gigs, including special events for the PanAm – Parapan Games, Shakespeare in the Park, Living Arts Centre in Mississauga, and Buskerfest.
A fabulous 100-member drumming group called the Grand Bateria Express made up of members of all seven Brazilian-based drumming groups and members of the public paraded along Dundas St. on Saturday, June 6. Rick Lazar, Artistic Director of Samba Squad, is the Musical Director of the Grand Bateria Express, which performed as part of LulaWorld Fest and the Dundas Street Fest.
Samba Squad also played its old favourites: Beaches Jazz Festival, Salsa on St. Clair (dancers’ favourite), Sun Fest in London, ON, and Muhtadi’s International Drum Fest.
